Pat Murphy lives in Worcestershire and is a sports writer, journalist and broadcaster. He has reported on cricket and football for many years and covers several of our regional sports clubs. He can often be heard on BBC Radio 5 Live.

He has reported on several England tours and has collaborated on books with several famous cricketers including Wasim Akram, Allan Donald, Graham Gooch, Imran Khan and Viv Richards. He also wrote "The Centurions" which profiles all the 25 cricketers, including Tom Graveney, who have scored 100 first-class centuries. Given the reduced first-class programme Pat is confident that he won't ever have to produce a further update to this wonderful reference book.

Pat has also written well-received biographies of Ian Botham and Brian Clough.

Pat first came to our society in March 2005, at the request of our then President, Tom Graveney, and suggested that it was probable that the BBC would introduce, within a few years, a dedicated sports channel. I wonder if he may return to that theme? !

No doubt Pat will give us his views on sports broadcasting in his usual forthright and entertaining way. It will be an evening not to be missed.
